In addition to celebrations and exhibits around the banana, there will be speakers and health demonstrations providing information about healthy eating and healthy living. There will also be loads of fun kid activities, art projects and competitions about being healthy in mind and body.
The 2011 Banana Festival focuses a lot on culture, particularly the cultures that have traditionally used the Banana in thier cultural art, foods and traditions. These include cultures from Central and South America, the Caribbean, Central and Eastern Africa, India, South East Asia, and the Pacific Islands. Through art, music, speakers and culinary treats, the Banana Festival will expose you to wonderful uses of the Banana from around the world.
Community is the third components of the 2011 Banana Festival. The festival will offer events, exhibits, and competitions that will focus on building and strengthening community. One way we aim to do so is by having 25 local non-profit and community oriented organizations available with their information free to the public.
